HOLE-IN-ONE WINS ETIQUS CHARITY CHALLENGE EVENT

Bramhall golfer, Joe Kirwan made a spectacular start to his round at Dunham Forest Golf Club with a ‘Hole in One’ with his very first shot of the day. The Maxitours event, run by Knutsford PGA Pro Tim Maxwell, was held at the Cheshire golf course which hosted the 18 hole, shot-gun start, stableford competition. Joe, age 65 who plays off a handicap of 6, and his partners were drawn to start their round at the short Par 3 third hole which was the chosen hole for an ETIQUS Charity Challenge being run in aid of The Golf Foundation. Entry to the nearest the pin challenge was £5 and 72 players entered it raising a total of £360. ETIQUS has already raised over £11,000 in 2015 through its ‘fiver for the foundation’ campaign to support the future of the golf for the next generation and the life skills the game has to offer.

‘I only decided to enter the challenge at the last minute’ said Joe. ‘I’m glad I did and that takes my ‘Hole in One’ tally to 3!’. Tim Maxwell quipped , ‘It was a good job we were playing off the forward tees today, as otherwise I doubt whether Joe would have reached the green!’.

‘I’m really pleased for Joe’ said ETIQUS Founder Gary Butler. ‘We’ve run a number of these challenges across the country during 2015, raising funds to a cause which is very important to me,  but this was our first ‘Hole in One’ at an event.’

Joe’s winning shot won him an ETIQUS Golf Timepiece.
