LAWRENSON WINS ETIQUS AGW PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Daily Mail Golf Correspondent Derek Lawrenson held on to his lead in the last event of the season in the Association of Golf Writers 'Road to Wentworth' Player of the Year sponsored by ETIQUS. Going into the last event to be played over the East Course at the famous club just outside London, Derek held a slender four point lead over nearest contender David Facey of The Sun. Playing alongside the two, duelling for the title, was invited guest ETIQUS Founder Gary Butler.

Solid golf by Lawrenson over 17 of the 18 holes saw him clinch victory be securing 30 points to Facey's 24 to win the series by 10 points with a season total of 145 points.
